The Word is in German

The German verb: sein (to be) is very important.

Today I want to cover the word: ist (is) which is a form of „to be“. We usually use it with singular nouns or with the personal pronouns er, sie, es.

How to conjugate the word „sein“

sein (to be)

ich bin (I am)
du bist (you are)
er ist (he is)
sie ist (she is)
es ist (it is)

You can use it just like the English word „is“ just add the letter „t“ (is = ist).

How to Learn With Part A

  1. Have a look at the picture.
  2. Read and listen a few times.
  3. Repeat after the speaker.
  4. Make sure that you imitate the pronunciation of the speaker.
  5. After a few repetitions go on to part B (farther below).
Tip: Always try to imagine the situations in your mind; it will help you to remember the words!
