German Plural Article

I have some good news for you this time.

The German plural article always remains the same.

As you already know, there are three main articles in German: der (masculine), die (feminine), and das (neuter).

Worth mentioning: German Plural Article

If we use a noun in the plural form, we always use the same article: die.

Well, at least in the nominative case, but please don’t worry too much about the German cases at this point.

Always step by step – always.

Today let’s focus on the main article in the plural form.

German Plural Article – Exercise A

1. Start by examining the picture closely.
2. Read the text and listen to the audio several times.
3. Repeat each sentence after the speaker.
4. Focus on matching the speaker’s pronunciation as accurately as possible.
5. Once you’ve practiced a few times, move on to Part B (further down the page).

Tip: Visualize the situations in your mind; this will help reinforce the vocabulary!

2. During the pauses, try to answer the questions (feel free to glance at the answers if needed).
3. After a few rounds, challenge yourself by answering without looking at the answers.
4. Pay close attention to mimicking my pronunciation.
5. Keep practicing the lesson until you can confidently answer all the questions.

Frage:
Was machen (do, make) die Männer?

kurze Antwort:
lesen

lange Antwort:
Die Männer lesen.

Was machen die Frauen? 

essen
Die Frauen essen.

Was machen die Jungen – spielen oder trinken? 

trinken
Die Jungen trinken.

Was machen die Mädchen – spielen? 

Nein, nicht spielen.
schreiben
Die Mädchen schreiben.

Aber (but) was macht das Mädchen? 

Das Mädchen schreibt.
Das Mädchen schreibt. (Just one girl)
Die Mädchen schreiben. (More than one girl)

Don’t get confused by the grammar! It is really just a matter of repetition.
